CityPulse: A Crowdsourced Platform for Community-Driven Governance

Project Time 2025
Role Designer & Developer
Topic Smart City

CityPulse is a civic technology platform designed to transform how residents participate in urban governance. Through a crowdsourced, multilingual, and interactive mapping interface, it enables communities to share real-time observations, surface local concerns, generate collective ideas, and track municipal responses. Unlike traditional consultation tools, CityPulse fosters continuity, reframing civic engagement as an ongoing relationship between citizens and city agencies.

Piloted in New York City, the platform addresses the challenge of equitable participation in one of the world’s most diverse urban environments. Its mechanisms—collaborative reporting, community voting, and accountability through implementation tracking—create a replicable model adaptable to cities of varying scales. By converting fragmented voices into coordinated action, CityPulse demonstrates how digital platforms can support inclusive, transparent, and sustainable urban governance.
